2015 Holidays & Fun Days
Do you have the post Holiday blues? I know around our house we get cabin fever and need a little extra pick me up after the holidays. We love including these fun quirky days in our homeschooling to make it fun. January has some interesting days so go ahead and pick which ones you want to participate in. Since I’m late posting I will start with today…
Fun Days:
January 6 Cuddle Up Day
Great day to cuddle up by the fireplace or grab some blankets and make it a movie night.

January 7 Old Rock Day
This is a great time for adventuring out with the kiddos and do some exploring. You could even do some rock painting!

January 8 Bubble Bath Day
This is another great one for the kids or even a great day for mom to get some relax time. Everyone can enjoy this day!

January 9 Play God Day
Don’t let this one scare you…nobody can take the place of God. However, this is a great day to do a random act of kindness. Get out and do something good for others, maybe go to the nursing home or help someone in your community.

January 10 Houseplant Appreciation Day
Plants are a great resource of oxygen and look great in the home. This would be a great homeschool lesson of identifying different plants.

January 11 Step in a Puddle and Splash Your Friend’s Day
I don’t know about where you are but here in Texas there is not many puddles this time of year. It is freezing cold here so your friend might not appreciate this day. If you do happen to celebrate it and have puddles enjoy!

Everyone dreams about something…a trip maybe; this is the day!
January 14 Dress Up Your Pet Day
Many people don’t need a specific day set aside for this. They dress their pooches up all the time. But if your not one of them, here is one day just for you and your fur baby.

January 15 National Hat Day
If your a hat person (unlike me) this is a great day for you. Although I love hats and may have to join in on this day.
January 16 National Nothing Day
This one explains itself! This is a great day to do nothing (if thats even possible) I know it’s not at my house. Kids, laundry, dishes, etc………….I will have to skip this one. I would be scared of what all I would have to do the next week just to catch up from one day.

January 17 Ditch New Years Resolutions Day
I am not one to make resolutions at the new year, but hey if you are here is the day to ditch it if yours didn’t work out for you, go ahead nobody’s going to judge you.
January 18 Winnie the Pooh Day -The Birthday of Winnie’s author A.A. Milne

January 19 Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday , celebrated on the third Monday
Born on January 15, 1929, Martin Luther King Jr. grew to become one of the greatest Social Activists the world has ever known. At 35, he became the youngest person to win the Nobel Peace prize. He was assassinated on April 4, 1968 while making a speech from the balcony of his hotel room in Memphis, Tennessee.
His birthday became a National Holiday by an act of Congress in 1983. Many consider it a day to serve your community.
January 19 National Popcorn Day
We LOVE popcorn at our house. Fresh popped in the machine. We always break out a movie and enjoy this family time. Take advantage of this day with the kids. Maybe even head out to the theater and catch the latest movie.
January 20 Penguin Awareness Day
Who doesn’t love penguins? We love them they are so cute. This would be a good homeschool lesson learning about them and maybe even catch a documentary on Netflix.
January 21 National Hugging Day
I’m a hugger. I love to give hugs. I know this might not be the case for everyone but it would be a great day to share a hug.

Writing in our homeschool days are important. We are working on cursive writing right now so we will take advantage of this great day.

Everyone loves a compliment! I am careful as a mom not to compliment looks but rather the attitude.

Kids love the surprises in an abnormal day. Here is a great day to let them have fun. Maybe have them were opposite socks or clothes inside out.

I hope you appreciate your spouse on a daily basis. I know with kids days can go by without making your spouse feel special. So don’t wait until Valentines go ahead and use this day!

If your a chocolate lover here is your day! My favorite chocolate covered strawberries…that makes it healthy right?

Being a stay home mom and homeshcool teacher, my days are always fun at work. I love being with my girls. Get creative how you can make your work day fun!

Puzzles are great fun and educational. Grab a puzzle and the kids and get busy.
January 30 National Inane Answering Message Day
Many people look at the title of this day and think ….huh!!? Some people think its a typo, and the day should read “National Insane Answering Message Day”. However, it actually and truly is “National Inane Answering Message Day”.
First lets clarify the meaning of an “inane” answering message. We all get them on our answering machines. An inane message is a senseless or meaningless message, or a prank call. Or, it could be an insane message.
So, National Inane Answering Message Day is a day to end those numerous, annoying inane answering machine messages. Trouble is…….how do you do that? In todays, world, caller Id is a great tool to accomplish this goal.

Inspire Your Heart With Art Day celebrates art and the effect it can have on your heart. Art is valued and appreciated for all sorts of reasons.
